Guelph Moves Me

June - October 2019

#GuelphMovesMe, Silvercreek and Eramosa River Trails

GUELPH, ONTARIO

Visual Artist Mallory Tolcher and Selected Community Members and Businesses

#GuelphMovesMe was a site-specific project that promoted physical fitness on Guelph’s trails through an outdoor art exhibition. The project began by asking community members to submit photos of themselves being physically active as inspiration for 12 hand-drawn portraits. The portraits were installed at six points along the Silvercreek and Eramosa River trails at the beginning of September 2019 and changed out halfway through the month. Viewers had to physically move through the trails to engage with the entire exhibition.

#GuelphMovesMe was proposed and awarded as a Guelph Artist Residency. The project was completed while I was pregnant with my daughter and actively running on the trails.

The project ended with an artist talk and trail walk on September 29 during Culture Days weekend.
